Course objectives
CSIC POST-GRADUATE COURSE
The objective of this course is to provide to graduates, engineers, architects and professionals coming from the construction sector the main guidelines related to alkaline cements and concretes. These cements have shown a great potential and are a feasible alternative to traditional cementitious systems, since they contribute to reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and contemplate the re-use of numerous industrial by-products (slag, fly ash, etc.) as a precursor in the elaboration of these cements..
During the course, the scientific and technological bases that would allow the use of these cementitious materials, the developed microstructures and their relationship with the physical-mechanical properties, durability against aggressive agents, etc. will be addressed. Some industrial experiences and their position in current standards and regulations will be discussed.
The course is aimed at graduates, engineers, architects, PhD students, technical and scientific professionals from research organisations or universities, companies, consultancies, etc. related to materials with conglomerating properties
