This Department is made up of three groups, whose mission is scientific and technical research in the area of construction materials. The following lines are addressed:
– Materials and Energy for a Sustainable Development (MEDES Group): Obtaining (design and processing) and characterization (chemical-physical, microstructural and technological) of glass and ceramic materials with structural and functional applications in Construction.
– Documentary, scientific and cultural heritage for the history of construction research in Spain: The main axis of work of this group is the study of the beginnings of the History of Research in Construction, mainly through, among others, the scientific and cultural heritage of the IETcc.
– Chemistry of Cement: Energy recovery of waste in cement manufacture; Durability of cement; Alkaline cements and concretes; Additives for concrete; Conservation of historical and cultural heritage.
– Materials Recycling: Dedicated to the recovery of waste as innovative construction materials for a circular economy (REINECO), the study of eco-efficient materials for construction (MECONS) and studies in Heritage
