Materials Department

This Department is made up of three groups, whose mission is scientific and technical research in the area of construction materials. The following lines are addressed:

Materials and Energy for a Sustainable Development (MEDES Group): Obtaining (design and processing) and characterization (chemical-physical, microstructural and technological) of glass and ceramic materials with structural and functional applications in Construction.

Chemistry of Cement: Energy recovery of waste in cement manufacture; Durability of cement; Alkaline cements and concretes; Additives for concrete; Conservation of historical and cultural heritage.

Materials Recycling: Dedicated to the recovery of waste as innovative construction materials for a circular economy (REINECO), the study of eco-efficient materials for construction (MECONS) and studies in Heritage
