Dr. Mª Teresa Blanco Varela is Research Professor at IETcc-CSIC. She has focused her research on three basic lines: i) Chemistry of cements, including high temperature chemistry, hydration and durability. ii) Increasing the cement durability (cements with the addition of witherite) and sustainable cements (alkaline activation of different industrial by-products). iii) conservation of the Historical and Cultural Heritage, focused on the deterioration processes and the diagnosis of the state of conservation of materials in monuments, repair products (consolidants, waterproofing agents, anti-graffiti) and new repair mortars with special properties.
Her research has been financed by 60 national and international competitive research projects, and by numerous research projects contracted by companies. She has directed 10 PhD, has registered 5 patents, is the author of more than 130 articles published in high impact scientific journals and 30 in technological magazines, 200 communications to congresses and several book chapters and monographs on topics related to her specialty, (Orcid Code:0000-0003-3306-3289; Research ID F-9500-2016).Director of the international postgraduate course Chemistry of Cement “Tomás Vázquez”. She belongs to permanent Spanish Cement Commission, and to the TECHNOHERITAGE and PTI-PAIS thematic networks.
