Sonia García Ortega has a master degree in engineering and a PhD in Building and Architectural Technology. Since 2009 she has been working at the Construction Quality Unit of the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences of the CSIC.

Among other, she collaborates with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda in the maintenance and updating of Health Sections of the Technical Building Code. In particular, she was one of the drafter of HS3 Indoor Air Quality in 2017 and HS6 Protection Against Exposure to Radon in 2019, and is one of the authors of the Guide to Protection Against Radon.

She is member of the AIVC board and her latest publications are “VIP 48.1: Trends in building ventilation requirements and inspection in Spain”, “Caracterización experimental y modelo predictivo de la calidad del aire interior en viviendas con sistemas de ventilación natural” and “Indoor air quality in naturally ventilated dwellings in Spain”.
